More helpless animals like Xena are waiting for your gift of life.
| Six-week-old Xena was rescued from an apartment dumpster during the winter of 2001. Suffering from malnutrition, worms and anemia, she was placed in a loving foster home to aid in her recovery. Xena was adopted into a forever home three weeks later. |
Ways to Give Since our humble beginnings in 1949, the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region has strived to prevent animal cruelty and neglect and promote a responsible community where animals are inherently valued and owners are committed to their pets. As a nonprofit organization sheltering thousands of animals each year, we rely on the support of the community. In 2008, over 9,600 supporters made life-saving gifts. Through this much-needed funding, we sustain 35+ humane programs and services, including the medical fund, spay & neuter, lost & found and pet adoptions, just to name a few. By providing shelter to 4,666 lost pets until they were reunited with their owners, and to 8,397 others who were adopted into their new “forever homes”—the Humane Society and its many supporters helped save 13,544 animals in 2008.* There are many ways you too can give to help animals in our community. Whether through a workplace charitable giving campaign, a memorial contribution or including the Humane Society in your estate planning—your support will mean the world to 13,544 innocent animals who only want a second chance to live…and to love! *Download a copy of our 2008 Annual Report.
