| | HUMANE SOCIETY’S FUR~R~R BALL RAISES OVER $120,000
 Colorado Springs – Colorado Springs is known for being a top rated, dog loving community and nothing showcases that better than the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region’s annual FUR~R~R Ball. Each year, close to 500 people gather to celebrate the companion animals in their lives and provide monetary support for those that don’t have homes. The Humane Society held its 13th annual FUR~R~R Ball this past Saturday night and raised more than $120,000 for animals in need!The 2010 FUR~R~R Ball was titled “Love Is All They Need”, with News First 5’s Lisa Lyden serving as master of ceremonies for the evening. There was an exciting new twist this year, popular television star Victoria Stilwell served as guest speaker. Victoria is one of the world's most recognized and respected dog trainers, perhaps best known for her role as the host of Animal Planet's It's Me or the Dog. She was welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd, who agreed with her sentiments on the importance of adoption and responsible pet care. The evening also included the popular Pet Parade, where adoptable cats and dogs were escorted down the red carpet runway as Lisa Lyden provided a little insight into each animal’s personality and needs. When the night was all said and done, 13 of the 14 animals profiled were spoken for with “choice holds” and adopted on Sunday morning, as soon as the shelter opened. “This event is our largest fundraiser of the year. The money that we raised will go to provide the necessary medical treatment that so many animals need before adoption, as well as help fund our foster care program and the CatS.N.I.P. spay and neuter voucher program,” says President and CEO Jan Mc-Hugh Smith. “The financial support of the Pikes Peak Region is vital in order to provide the special care that we do for thousands of animals each year and we cannot thank our donors and the companies that sponsor us enough.”
